Bob of PonoHouse.com will be auctioning off a stand up paddle with pyrographic artwork for charity. The auction will be held in the next two weeks for the “Save The Children” initiative. This event is spearheaded by our friends at Lumberjocks.com.

I found a new use for the 2 small leash plugs on the C4 Waterman stand up paddle surfboards. They were designed initially to have the velcro attach around a paddle and use as a handle but I need stronger velcro for when the wind picks up. I found this cool video of some girls having fun while stand up paddle surfing. They look like beginners but are doing pretty well. I’m wondering where this was filmed so if anyone knows please post a comment.

Since I missed the stand up paddle surf division finals in the HASA surf contest at Queen’s Beach in Waikiki, Oahu, I paddled out past the break where I saw a bunch of stand up paddle surfers. It was a great day for first timers and it just brought back memories of my first attempt at stand up paddle surfing.
I’ve known Candice Appleby briefly since I see her surfing in Waikiki and at contests so I wasn’t surprised that she beat all the guys and took first place in the stand up paddle surf division of the contest. Candice won on a Blane Chambers production 10′ stand up paddle surf board from Tropical Blends Surf Hawaii and a C4 Waterman hybrid paddle with carbon blade and wood shaft (which she won at the Duke’s OceanFest contest in September). It’s never too early to start off the kids at stand up paddle surfing. I went to Waikiki Beach this past weekend to check out the stand up paddle surf division for the HASA surf contest. HASA said the heat would be at 1 pm and when I arrived at 10 am the final was already done. That gave me a lot of time to play in the ocean with my boys and I finally got my 4 year old on the stand up board.
My boy is pretty hesitant to try new things and he didn’t want to get on the stand up board but I eased him into it little by little. First he started sitting down and paddling. Then he was willing to go on his knees. Finally he stood up and paddled. The entire process took about 15 minutes. I shot a short video and added my brother’s music from www.hawaiiguitar.com. I met up with Joe Blair last week at Lego Land’s parking lot to check out the master shaper’s 9′9″ stand up paddle surf board. It was my last day in San Diego and there was no other way to meet up. I’m glad I did as the custom Blair stand up paddle board was worth checking out and Joe had some great stand up paddle info to share.

Ok.. not exactly a Stand Up Surf post, but one that helps me ride the wave of life. I ran across this quote on a forum today:

I got a chance to visit the Infinity Surf Shop in Dana Point, California last week. I was excited because I had been there once before in 2000. That’s when I was into surf kayaks and Steve Boehne makes a really cool sit on top wave ski.
I actually went surfing with Steve and his crew at San Onofre, California during that visit and absolutely froze my butt off. This visit was different. It was mainly to see what he had for his line of Ku Ku Hoe stand up paddle boards and paddles.
I shot a short video so you can see what they had in the store. I was there for about an hour and every person I noticed come in the store was looking at the stand up paddle boards. I didn’t see anyone browsing the regular surfboards and I think a couple Infinity stand up boards were sold during my visit.
