CONNOR BAXTER WINS THE “ULTIMATE SUP SHOWDOWN”!

The 2013 Ultimate SUP Showdown was a huge success. This event took place on Oahu and it was a part of the famous Duke Kahanamoku Event. This event was alittle different in the sense that when I signed up I was in both the surf part and the race part. All the competitors had to compete in both the race and surf – which made it a fun day at the beach.

The 32-Mile Molokai-2-Oahu Event was the hardest race I have done this year.
My family and I went from Maui to Molokai on Friday on our boat. We brought my boards, our food, water, clothes, provisions, and Igloo coolers. It was great to get there a couple days early to relax.

The 2013 DaHui race was amazing. It was on the North Shore of Oahu and started at Turtle Bay and went to Waimea Bay, which is about 7 miles. I got there and scoped out my competition and knew who was going to be fast – Travis Grant, Scott Gamble, Kody Kerbox, Mo Freitas, Kaeo Abbey.

Stop 3 for the World Series in Oleron France was an amazing event. This was a two-day event and like always we had both a long distance and sprint races. The first day we kicked it off with the distance and it was about 6.5km. Last-minute a storm came through and they had to change it from 30km to 6.5km. Connor Baxter wins both the Sprint Racing and Long Distance Race for a clean sweep – Claiming the Overall Title at the Ubatuba Grand Slam.

The 2013 Ubatuba Grand Slam was by far the biggest turnout on the Standup World Series. From the first day of the sprints to the last seconds of the event when they took the tents down, there were a lot of spectators there to support and cheer us on.

The 2013 Abu Dhabi All-Star event was amazing. It started off with a long trip across the world. There were only 18 competitors invited to this event. We got to surf in a wave pool called Wadi Adventures. The waves were about head high and we could go left, right, or have a closeout. The first round we all got three lefts, then three rights and last three closeouts. They took the top one score from each type of waves and the top six from that made it to the quarters. Unfortunately I did not make that cut but felt like I was surfing good.
