Zane Schweitzer overcomes the odds to secure the well deserved win in Bilbao
Zane Schweitzer (Starboard) arrived at night on Friday, without his boards and paddles to take part in this weekends event and traveling all the way from Tahiti. Despite the borrowed board and paddle and travel exhaustion, Zane put on a strong performance on Day 1 to secure an impressive 3rd place in the Sprint Racing, especially considering the caliber of the competition.

Casper Steinfath steps up in the sprint Finals to take the win on Day 1 of the Iberdrola World SUP Challenge
Casper Steinfath (Naish) looked strong all day today at the Iberdrola World SUP Challenge, Stop #1 on the 2014 European Cup, and peaked in the Final, to break away from the pack and take the win at the all important day 1 of heat elimination Sprint Racing. Looks like nice trade winds for tomorrow, so our training group will do another downwinder. We will meet at 4:30 pm at Kahala. Everyone is welcome to join, we will do a shorter course for the slower paddlers starting at Toes (the beach park at the bottom of Hawaii Loa ridge). The fast paddlers will do the longer run from Portlock to Kahala. We will not have a time trial training group in Hawaii Kai this Wednesday. Stop number one of the 2014 European Cup presented by Starboard will kick off this weekend in the beautiful Basque Country of Spain, as many of the World’s best athletes descend upon the dramatic European City of Bilbao to do battle.

We will offer a Professional Stand Up Paddle Association – PSUPA SUP instructor training and certification course in June. It’s a 5 day course and will be held in Honolulu from June 23rd to the 27th from 9 am (or 10 am on some days) to 12 am. The cost is $350 including all course materials and certification. Lina Augaitis puts on a show at her first World Series Race in Abu Dhabi
Lina Augaitis from Canada arrived in the UAE for her first showing on the Stand Up World Series, already an acclaimed paddler, but a new face on the Series. On Day one, she came out of the gate firing all cylinders to take a comfortable win in the long distance. Meanwhile on day 2, Lina maintained her composure and powered her way through the rounds to reach the Final heat of the day.

Connor Baxter turns it on again here on Day 1 of the World Series at Yas Marina
Connor Baxter (Starboard) played a smart game today here at Day 1 of the Stand Up World Series component of the Abu Dhabi All Stars Grand Slam, patiently waiting for the right moment to make a move and sprint to victory in the 8.5km long distance course. The Top 10 athletes were in a pack for 5 out of the 8.5 km, as the Top 8 then broke away through the 5th lap.
