March 20 -22, will be the 25th Annual Paddle Surf competition held at the famous Steamer lane.
We are looking for SUP surf competitors who are interested in participating in a new category of the greatest paddle surf festival on earth. The Annual Santa Cruz Surf Kayak Festival is the largest paddle surf contest in the world.
There are 2 different SUP levels in which to participate 3 days surfing at middle peak or 2 days of surfing at indicators. Below is the entry form and application to sign up.
Time is running out March 8th is the final day to sign up. Come join the fun. Contest runs March 20 – 22.

I took this video last year with Ekolu Kalama in the water at Sunset Beach. When I shot this, we were facing away from the surf breaks and were safe in the channel. I asked Ekolu to give some tips on how to move from bigger waves to smaller waves and how to stay safe in the water. He shared his first experience with big waves at 25’ Hawaiian style, not knowing what to do, still trying to get his act together in the water. Luckily, for him the water was not crowded which gave him the chance to experiment on his moves.

Hawaiian WaterSports will host a free demo day at the Kaimana Beach Park in Honolulu this Saturday, February 21 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
There will be representatives, boards and paddles from C4 Waterman, Surftech, Southpoint, NSP, and Aquaglide, on hand. Interested participants should reserve a time slot by calling 808-262-5483.

I was talking with Duke over at Surftech to see what was new, who was getting into SUP, etc and found out that NFL star Junior Seau is now pretty stoked on stand up paddle surfing. From the pictures it looks like he’s all by himself but then again, who would drop in on Junior Seau?

Ekolu Kalama sent over this video he just made from some sick footage of him SUP surfing in huge Puetro Escondido waves. The barrels are huge and they don’t call Puerto Escondido the Mexican Pipeline for nothing. Ekolu is definitely living life to the fullest.

Today, thanks to the generous efforts of the members of Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club (HOCC), over 400 paddlers took to the water in Mission Bay, San Diego. Our participants ranged in age from 8 yrs. to 80 yrs old including a number of very inspirational Challenged Athletes representing the Challenged Athlete Foundation (CAF), Olympic Athletes and World Class Athletes from various other sports. C4 Waterman ambassador Ryan Levinson joined forces with paddleboard retailer Aqua Adventures and members of the San Diego Outrigger Canoe Club to host an inspirational paddleboarding and outrigger canoe clinic for disabled athletes. The event was held in support of the Challenged Athletes Foundation and CAF’s “Operation Rebound” program. Fifteen challenged athletes, veterans, troops, and first responders enjoyed paddling an armada of C4 Holo Holos and Classics in Mission Bay, San Diego.

Here’s an update on the Hawaii Kai C4 Waterman and Wet Feet Demo day.
Confirmed dates are:
Saturday January 31 – Demo day @ Hawaii Kai with Wet Feet.
at the Hawaii Kai boat ramp from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm.
Saturday, February 28 – Demo day @ Kailua boat ramp with Kimo’s Surf Hut
from 10:00 am till 1:00pm.
