Mirrored off the classic Down River Sprint, the Maui Jim SUP Surf Sprint presented by C4 Waterman is a race against the clock in the heart of Vail on Gore Creek. Anyone up for the challenge will run this 3-mile stretch of Gore Creek from East Vail to Vail Village SUP style. Competitors must stand strong because snow melt from the nearby Gore Range makes for icy waters while navigating the class II/III course. With three separate events and nine individual competitions raring to go in some of the most spectacular whitewater the planet has to offer, there’s more reason than ever to be in Colorado in the summer. Encinitas, CA –This past Saturday, April 30th, 182 athletes gathered at Doheny State Beach to compete in the 3rd Annual Paddle for Humanity to benefit SurfAid International. The paddleboarding and stand up paddle (SUP) fundraiser attracted some of the region’s best paddlers, who competed in the 6-mile elite race, and dozens more who participated in the 2-mile fun paddle.

Breaking news, the Whitewater Stand Up Paddling Championship has just morphed into the 2011 Rocky Mountain Surf Festival and will be held June 11th & 12th in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This one of a kind Polynesian themed extravaganza will feature surfing contests at the Glenwood Springs Whitewater Activity Area, live music, food and product vendors, a costume contest, a Goof Off competition, an impromptu float in all types of crafts on the Colorado River and planet earth's best river stand up paddlers displaying their paddling prowess on the snowmelt swollen Colorado River…and much more!

Here is an interview with Starboard rider Tama Audibert sent to us by Margareta, Starboard’s marketing manager.
Local Tahitian and Starboard rider, Tama Audibert, snatched 2nd place in arguably the world’s largest SUP surf event. Tama’s smooth style and paddlework, along with big hits on the west bowl took him from an unknown rider to seeing off almost every top athlete in the league. We have caught up with Tama to find out how he prepare himself for another thrilling year on the Stand Up World Tour.
