Rough Water training:
In preparation for the Wet Feet Blue Planet race coming up on Sept. 14th, we will paddle out to Portlock Point again for some more rough water paddling.
Please note: meeting time is 5 PM at the Hawaii Kai boat ramp.
Instead of the regular time trial course, we will paddle up to Portlock point and then around the point, upwind in the rough waters for as far as you like, then return to the boat ramp. This is great balance training, we hope you can join us! Continue reading ‘Wednesday Training Group: Meeting at 5:00 PM Hawaii Kai – Coaching Topic: Rough Water Paddling’

Connor Wins the Gorge Event – Clean Sweep!
RECAP BY CONNOR:
The 2014 Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge was an epic event. It was an action-packed two day weekend with three races.
Day one started with the flat water technical course race. It was about 5 miles – 5 lap course with a lot of buoy turns. All the men competitors were on 14 foot race boards. I had my Starboard 14′ Allstar. Continue reading ‘Connor Wins Gorge Event – Clean Sweep!’

CONNOR BAXTER WINS
THE ULTIMATE SUP SHOWDOWN
FOR THE 2ND CONSECUTIVE YEAR!
Recap by Connor Baxter
The 2014 Honolua Surf Co’s Ultimate SUP Showdown was by far one of the best organized events I have ever been to. First of all – Most all of the top surf and race competitors that were invited were at the event. The heats in both surf and race were on time. They stuck to the schedule. Then there is the fact that CBS Sports was there and is going to televise the event on Prime Time TV. Continue reading ‘CONNOR WINS THE ULTIMATE SUP SHOWDOWN’

CONNOR BAXTER WINS
THE MOLOKAI-2-OAHU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
AND BREAKS HIS OWN WORLD RECORD
The 2014 Molokai to Oahu was a great event. We went over to Molokai on our boat three days before the event. It was nice to just relax and take it all in before the grueling 32-mile channel crossing. The night before my mom made her traditional competition meal, I got a good night rest and was ready to go the next morning. We loaded the boat with our provisions and I got ready to go to the start line. I did a little warm-up paddle to make sure I was ready to go and then I lined up on the starting line after the prone paddlers left.
