The Sieravuori Masters, stop 2 of the European Cup will kick off tomorrow, with elite athletes in attendance and stunning weather

After an epic weekend of racing for stop 1 of the European Cup (and World Series) in Barcelona last weekend, a solid selection of the World’s best have continued their journey onto the beautiful region of Sieravuori in Finland for stop 2 of the Cup, the 2015 Sieravuori Masters.

It is a completely different environment up here in Sieravuori Finland when compared to Barcelona from last weekend: far from the hustle and bustle of a major City, and the packed beaches of Barceloneta and its surroundings, Sieravuori offers a completely unique experience, with 2.5 km lake frontage and some of the most beautiful natural surroundings we have seen in a long time.

For the athletes, the location offers an incredible playground, both on and off the water: from paintball, skate ramps and ATV’s to jet skis, Wakeboard boats and much more, it is a veritable adventure zone in all respects.

However, it will be down to business again tomorrow as the long distance kicks off at 1pm Finland time (12pm CET), followed by the Sprint Racing on Saturday as stop #2 of the European Cup gets underway in style.

Leonard Nika is current leader on the European Cup Ratings after his 3rd place finish in Barcelona, but faces a stacked field

The Italian, Leonard Nika (Starboard) is currently leading the European Cup ratings after his impressive 3rd place finish at stop #1 in Barcelona. He will be looking to continue this momentum here in Finland as he will want to set himself up for a strong finish to the Cup at home in Rome later this month at the 2015 Italia Surf Expo (24th – 26th July). However, Leonard will have his work cut out, as he faces fierce competition here in Finland:

Last year’s edition saw Zane Schweitzer (Starboard) take the win and go onto win his first European Cup Title, as he is back this year to not only make it a second win here in Finland, but also defend his coveted European Cup Title. With a 6th place finish in Spain, he will be looking to take control at stop 2, to stand him in the best possible position to do exactly that.

Casper Steinfath (Naish) was able to secure the European Title last year at the final event in Italy, and has started his 2015 campaign off well with a 5th place in Barcelona. Watch out for the Viking who is close to home here in Finland, as he will be wanting to make his presence felt in this year’s European Cup.

Dylan Frick (Starboard) had a great European Cup last year, and will be looking to build off a solid finish in Spain (8th place) in his quest for the Cup Title. Likewise, Eric Terrien (Bic SUP) finished in 9th place in Spain, and also put on a solid campaign back in 2014, so watch out for the powerful Frenchman as we build up to an epic battle.

Behind these athletes are a whole host of real threats, as 14 different nations step up to do battle at Stop #2 of the 2015 European Cup. Stay tuned for live updates and full post show and galleries coming to you from this exciting 2nd stop of the European Cup in Finland at www.watermanleague.com

The women’s fleet sees solid international attendance, as we expect to see a dynamic battle ensue in tomorrow’s competition

In the girls fleet with see a solid international fleet in attendance here in Finland, headlined by Celine Guesdon (Bic SUP) from France and Ane Zulaika Aranburu (Bic SUP) from Spain. These two finished 4th and 5th respectively in Barcelona and are destined to be real threats on both the Stand Up World Series and European Cup in 2015.

While the women’s field here in Finland is small compared to Barcelona, the competition will be fierce as we look forward to watching the competition unfold in the morning.
