Wednesday: Downwinder Meeting at 4:30 PM, Kahala Beach Park
We are expecting another great trade wind day tomorrow.
We will meet at 4:30 pm at Kahala. Everyone is welcome to join, we may do a shorter course for the slower/entry level paddlers starting at Toes (the beach park at the bottom of Hawaii Loa ridge). The fast paddlers will do the longer run from Portlock to Kahala. We will not have a time trial training group in Hawaii Kai this Wednesday.
Video from last weekend’s WPA race will be posted soon. If you or anyone you know is interested in a new board, please check out our free board demo at Ala Moana this coming saturday: http://blueplanetsurf.com/pages/free-demo-clinic
We are meeting at 4:30 PM at KAHALA Beach Park (official name is Waialae Beach Park), this is where we meet and where we will finish. We will shuttle the boards to Portlock where we will start. Please see important note below and confirm if you want to join by sending an e-mail to blueplanetsurf@gmail.com.
Please let Rob or Jeff know if you need a board to use.
Important:
Because we have a limited amount of time before it gets dark, we are limiting the longer downwinder group to participants that have downwind experience and can complete the Kahala run in less than one hour. If you have never done a downwinder before, or are not sure you can complete the Hawaii Kai to Kahala run in less than one hour, please join the shorter run group starting at Toes or arrange a private downwind coaching session with Robert or Jeff.
We are now requiring a “qualifying time” of less than 28 minutes for the 2 mile time trial course, so before you join the group downwinders, please make sure you have completed the time trial course in under 28 minutes at least once.
The results of the time trials are posted online on Racesplitter:

This is the windguru forecast page I like to check:

This is the GPS track of a Kahala Run, about 5 miles.
This is the Kahala Beach Park where we meet, also known as Waialae Beach Park.
Payment information:
The first training group is always FREE to newcomers. If you are attending for the second (or more) time, there is a charge of $15 per class or $100 for a pack of 10 ($10 per class). We don’t take payments at the event, so please go to either the Blue Planet store to pay, or you can pay for it online here (you can choose one time pass or 10x pass in options):

If you purchase a 10 pack, we will use the time trial results to keep track of how many time trials you have attended. Jeff is keeping a spreadsheet of who paid and how many credit were used. We will let you know when the next payment is due.
Rental boards:
The cost to rent a race board (including leash and paddle) for the training group is $30, which includes transportation to and from the event. Please reserve a rental board with 24 hour notice with either Robert or Jeff.
Mahalo!
