I recently returned from a River trip through the Grand Canyon. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. I put together two videos documenting the trip. The first is video is the shorter one, showing just the most difficult rapid in the Grand Canyon, called Lava Falls. I went through the rapid with my Stand Up Paddleboard (note: I said with the board, not on the board ). My 14 year old niece, Emily Williams rowed through it on a big raft and may be the youngest girl to have rowed through Lava Falls rapid. Continue reading ‘Grand Canyon SUP River Trip – August 2013′

Connor wins the Overall Title in San Francisco
That is 6 out of 6 Overall Titles on the Stand Up World Series Tour
ReCap by Connor
The 2013 San Francisco America’s Cup Open was a great event. It was held at Marina Green and the event site was called the America’s Cup Village. It was right where the 45’s were racing for the Youth Cup. The Golden Gate Bridge was only a couple miles away to the west. With the fog rolling in it was sometimes covered and not visible. There were loads of boats in the bay watching all the 45’s racing. Action packed weekend.

This time around the wonderful sport of Stand Up Paddling brought us to San Francisco for the Stand Up World Series America’s Cup AC Open Paddle Pro! The Prestigious America’s Cup is the second to oldest sporting event in the world behind the Olympics, running for 162 years! It was such an honor to be apart of this event with the SUWS and show the Yatching world what professional Stand Up Paddle Racing is all about! And at the same time it was such a pleasure to see what the America’s CUP had in store for us with the amazing 78foot Hydrofoiling sailboats reaching up to 48 knots maneuvering through a windsurf like Slalom course..!

Here are some photos that I took from the recent Dad Center Canoe Race. The race honors George “Dad” Center – Hawaii’s legendary swim coach of the 1920s and 1930s. George Center, who died in 1962, was an advocate for women’s participation in water sports. The course is 25 miles around the island of Oahu, from Kailua Beach Park, to Makapuu, around Diamond Head Buoy, finishing at the Outrigger Canoe Club.

Connor Baxter does it again: another victory at AC Open
Connor Baxter (Starboard) battles back on the last leg of the challenging long distance race, to edge ahead of Kai Lenny (Naish) to take the win here in the long distance course of the AC Open, Stop #7 on the 2013 Stand Up World Series. Strong wins, strong tides and tumultuous ocean conditions set the scene for a radical long distance course today at the AC Open, that took center stage at the America’s Cup here in San Francisco.
