The Stand Up World Tour & Series come together in HB
After a flurry of high profile city events on the World Series over the past month, the World’s best will congregate in Southern California, Surf CIty USA, where the Huntington Beach Pro will bring the World Racing Series and World Surfing Tour together for the second Grand Slam of the year.
From the 17th – 22nd September, Surf City USA will play host to one of the most dramatic events of the 2013 season, where world class competition across Surfing and Racing will combine for a week of intese action just south of the iconic Huntington Beach Pier.
Beyond the world class action, there will be an open trials event for the Stand Up World Tour and an Open Race event for the Stand Up World Series, providing something for everyone here at the Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam.

The Stand Up World Tour to light back up in Surf City USA
After a long break since the last event in Ubatuba Brazil, Stop number 3 on the 2013 Stand Up World Tour will bring the world’s best back to Surf City USA, as the race towards the 2013 World Title intensifies in front of California’s Surfing Capital at Huntington Beach.
Currently in the rankings lead after his win at Sunset, and 5th in Brazil, Kai Lenny (Naish) will be looking to build on his lead at this all important stop on the Tour, but this campaign will not be left unchallenged. 2012 World Champion Leco Salazar will be looking to build momentum after his win down in Brazil earlier this year, while California resident and 2012 World Title Contender Sean Poynter (Starboard) will be looking to turn it on in front of a home crowd at Huntington Beach to make his Title dreams a reality in 2013.

Hawaii continues to be a driving force on the World Tour
Behind these leading 3 athletes, the list of incredible talent on the Stand Up World Tour runs deep, with leading athletes coming from Hawaii, Brazil, Australia, Brazil, Europe and beyond, all hoping to take down the Champions at Huntington Beach and make their mark on the 2013 Stand Up World Tour Season. Names to watch out for are:
Zane Schweitzer (Starboard) from Maui – a stunning win in the wave pool in Abu Dhabi has given Zane the confidence boost he needed and he excels in the skate park like conditions on offer at Huntington Beach. He currently lies in 9th place overall.
Kody Kerbox (Naish) has also been on an incredible roll this year, currently lying in 3rd overall after strong performances in Sunset and Brazil, as well as in the exhibition event in Abu Dhabi.
You also cannot count out the young phenom from Haleiwa and event winner in Brazil in 2012, finalist in 2013, Mo Freitas (Focus SUP/Body Glove) – he continues to show his incredible form whereve he goes this year and will be a name to watch out for in Huntington. Mo currently sits in 6th overall. Also, 2nd place finisher in Sunset Beach Robin Johnston (Mistral) has competed at Huntington Beach more than any of the athletes and has the experience, mindset and the ability to take down the very best.

The Vaz brothers have proved themselves very dangerous
From Sunset Beach on Oahu’s North Shore, to Abu Dhabi, to at home in Brazil, the Vaz brothers from Rio de Janeiro have proved that they are dangerous regardless of the conditions. Coming into Huntington Beach, Caio (Art in Surf) is currently in 2nd place overall behind Kai Lenny (Naish), and favors the beach break conditions found in Surf City USA
Meanwhile Ian (Art in Surf) put on a phenomenal display in Abu Dhabi and demonstrated that he has what it takes to take on and beat the world’s best.
With one of the most fanatical countries in the world behind them, the cheers for these young Brazilians, together with their fellow countryman Leco Salazar, Carlos Bahia, Matheus Salazar, Bezinho Otero and many more may even be heard from the Pier….

Australia to make waves at Stop 3 on Stand Up World Tour
The Aussies are on fire at the moment on the Stand up World Tour: Beau Nixon (Naish), Justin Holland (Starboard), Dave Muir (IOSUP), Keahi de Aboitz (JP Australia) and Jackson Close (JP Australia) have all proved their incredible performance on Tour and will be looking to take casualties at Huntington Beach.
There are also the groms coming up through the ranks, with the likes of Kai Bates (Fanatic) amongst others, so watch as the Aussies fly the flag and make their presence felt in Huntington Beach.

California Talent to step up and stand strong in Surf City
Remember to watch out for the local contingent in Huntington Beach: from Colin McPhilips who has always proved dangerous in beach break conditions, Dave Boehne and Tommy Lloy, to the Hughes Brothers, Rocky Mckinnon and many more – they will be looking to stand strong on their home turf.

The women’s field in this year’s Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam will be the toughest and most competitive yet, as Current Ratings Leader Nicole Pacelli from Brazil will be coming to Surf City USA to take on the vey best athletes in the world.
From Candice Appleby, Iballa Moreno (Starboard) and Aline Adisaka, to Vanina Walsh (Starboard), Izzy Gomez and a whole host of California, US and international talent, the World Title Race will without doubt intensify at this half way point in the 2013 season.

With the Title Race centering upon the leading contenders, Kai Lenny (Naish) and Connor Baxter (Starboard), the battle behind them is also intensifying and this next all important leg of the World Series will see some dramatic battles, as the Hawaiians, the Australians, the Europeans and the South Americans will be vying for vital poisitioning on the 2013 Stand up World Series prior to the final climactic event on Oahu’s fabled North Shore, at Turtle Bay Resort.
Similarly, the women’s field will see some of the most intense racing yet on the Stand UP World Series, as current Ratings leader Annabel Anderson will be met by some of the US and Europe’s leading talents, as it all comes down to the wire here on the 2013 Stand up World Series.
