I recently went on a trip to China to visit some of the manufacturers we work with. I took some video at our board factory and put together a short video showing how a Blue Planet veneer board is made, starting with the Aku computer shaping machine cutting the blank, the vacuum bagging process, inserts, finish, etc. Thanks to Evan Leong of standuppaddlesurf.net for shooting the parts on the beach:

Travis Grant is Fast…Travis Grant is FIRST!

HONOLULU (May 9, 2012) – One year ago at the Battle of the Paddle Hawaii, Travis Grant (AUS) lined up for his first race under the C4 Waterman label. Beneath his feet was a brand new 12′6 custom race board shaped by Dave Parmenter. In his hands was one of the first prototypes of the C4 X-Wing paddle.

If you want to demo our big selection of boards you must sign up by 8:15 am and attend the safety briefing. Our whole fleet of rental/demo boards is available to try, beginner clinic starts at 8am, advanced stroke technique clinic and Q&A after 8:30 am.

HONOLULU – (May 5, 2012) — Australian Travis Grant mastered a brand new stand-up paddle race format today to win the elite “Survivor SUP” race of the Quiksilver Waterman Collection Waikiki Paddle Festival. Grant finished ahead of Danny Ching (Redondo Beach, California), and the designer of today’s course, Jamie Mitchell (Australia), who were second and third respectively. Grant won $2,000 for the result. The women’s division was a clear upset with a win by California’s Gillian Gibree (San Diego) over Hawaii pair Jenny Kalmbach and Candice Appleby respectively. Gibree won $1,500.

HONOLULU – May 2, 2012: Paddlers from around the world are arriving to Waikiki in final preparation for this weekend’s Quiksilver Waterman Collection Waikiki Paddle Festival. Roughly 500 athletes from Australia, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Korea, Canada, Tahiti, and around the United States will take part in the festival, to be held at Duke Kahanamoku Beach, Fort DeRussy.
