$15,000 prize-money announced for the North Shore Paddle Challenge at Turtle Bay Resort
The North Shore Paddle Challenge at Turtle Bay Resort will take place from next Friday 14th – Sunday 16th October. This groundbreaking event will boast a $15,000 prize purse and provide the template for the 2012 Stand Up World Series, with elimination format sprint racing through the surf and the legendary North Shore downwinder. Event is open to Men, Women, Children & Prone Paddlers
The North Shore Paddle Challenge will have something for everyone, from men’s elite in both SUP and prone paddling to women and children. We will also be opening up the sprint / surf slalom course to stock prone paddlers for their own challenge in the surf.
The principal board SUP board class for both sprint and long distance races will be 12′6, although we are leaving it open for both 14′ and Open classes for the downwinder.

North Shore Schedule to start at 5pm on Friday 14th Oct.
- Everything will begin at the Sunset Room on Friday 14th at 5pm, with the Kona Brewing Co meet and greet, where athletes can check in and have the last opportunity to register for the racing if they have not already done so. It will also serve as a press conference, as the media will have a chance to meet and mingle with the athletes.
- Saturday will start bright and early with the heat elimination format sprint racing, with a check in at 8am. The course will run through the surf in the Bay at Turtle Bay Resort and run through the day.
- Saturday evening will be the major event function, the Waterman Concert, with food, Longboard Lager and live Hawaiian music
- Sunday morning will see the check in for the downwind run from Turtle Bay Resort to Haleiwa at 10.30am.
- Kona Brewing Co Happy hour at Hang Ten bar will be the wrap up sundowner after a weekend of epic racing.

2012 Stand Up World Series to be launched at Turtle Bay
The inaugural 2012 Stand Up World Series will be launched and celebrated at Turtle Bay Resort during the North Shore Paddle Challenge this year. The occasion will be particularly relevant as Turtle Bay Resort will host the climactic and prestigious World Championship Finals that will take place at the same date next year, and close a season that will see in excess of 15 races in over 12 countries.

The Namotu World Paddle Challenge Fiji presented by Air Pacific will be the first event of the 2012 Stand Up World Series, adopting the unique formula for the standardized racing and adapting it to the wonderous surroundings in Fiji.
