Local surfers were left awestruck this week when Hawaiian surfing legend Dave Parmenter made a long-awaited return to the resort since 1980s.
The pioneer waterman, who introduced stand up paddle boarding to the US, spent ten days in the resort paddle surfing some of the beaches he used to compete on during his long competitive career.
Local stand up paddle board champ Adam Zervas, who accompanied the legend during his visit, said: “Dave is a very respected surfer and board shaper and pioneer in the US in setting up paddle boarding.”

Here’s some pictures and a short video clip to show the similarities and differences between the S.I.C. F-15 and F-16. In the F series, the F-16 is a hollow molded carbon fiber 16′ SUP racer and the F-15 is a foam core hand shaped custom SUP racer. The F-16 is quite a bit lighter than the F-15 but I’m not sure on exact weights. Continue reading ‘F-15 versus F-16 – SUP racer comparison’

I’ve been doing a lot of distance and downwind paddling lately and got a chance to ask Todd Bradley, a champion paddler, for his insights. This is a video that I’ve watched over and over already.

Here’s a video from a while back of a downwind run with Jeff, Kekoa and Teri. I gotta give Teri props because this was her second time on a stand up board and she did great.

Here’s a video of us having fun doing tandems on the Surftech Blacktip. The first segment is me and my brother Darin, then Kekoa and Teri, then me and Dominic. It’s pretty impressive that this board can float over 400 lbs and still move. Some pretty funny ‘falling-down’ moments in the video.
