4 Year Old Toddler Stand Up Paddle Surfer
It’s never too early to start off the kids at stand up paddle surfing. I went to Waikiki Beach this past weekend to check out the stand up paddle surf division for the HASA surf contest. HASA said the heat would be at 1 pm and when I arrived at 10 am the final was already done. That gave me a lot of time to play in the ocean with my boys and I finally got my 4 year old on the stand up board.
My boy is pretty hesitant to try new things and he didn’t want to get on the stand up board but I eased him into it little by little. First he started sitting down and paddling. Then he was willing to go on his knees. Finally he stood up and paddled. The entire process took about 15 minutes. I shot a short video and added my brother’s music from www.hawaiiguitar.com.

Hi I have been looking for info on SUP boards for kids and there is very little on the web. My boys are 4 and 7. I was thinking of either making boards or buying 8 foot soft tops. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks marty
Kids that size can easily use regular surfboards and longboards because they’re so light and agile. My oldest is almost 6 yrs old and I think an 8′er is perfect for him to start.
